love never fails

Love is patient, love is kind.
It does not envy & it does not boast.
It is not arrogant or rude.
It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;
It does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes in all things, endures all things.
Love never fails.
((1 corinthians 13:4-8))

These verses have been on my heart as I make pink, red, and maroon felt rosettes..as I get valentine's peanut m&m's & put them in a cute little latte bowl..as I make heart shaped goodies..as I spend time with my husband. Valentine's Day is about love...even with all the silly things that come about from it.

We usually don't celebrate Valentine's Day. Our cynicism typically gets the best of us & we call it things like "hallmark holiday" and a lame way to spend money...and make fun of people who decorate their house in pink. This year, I'm simply seeing it as an excuse to celebrate the love I share with my incredible husband. Another reason to celebrate the gift of marriage. An extra day to love without ceasing.

love. never. fails.

Don't you forget it.

 love.

  1. yeah, I've been known to knock Hallmark for creating yet another money-making holiday. But I'm a sucker for an extra chance to tell those I love that I adore them. To lavish my girls & hubs w/ extra "love" goodies...and to send fun little packages to all my loves that live in other cities/states. So Hallmark- hat's off to you- I'm a sucker for your money making strategies.
    Enjoy the extra love :)

  2. Such a great reminder to celebrate love! I love it for the simplicity of handmade valentines cards and candy hearts. But really to tell everyone I love how special they are.

  5. Ahhh, this post touched my heart! I'm usually one of those who thinks it's a silly holiday, but of course I can't deny that all I want are some pink peonies and a box of Godiva chocolates.

Hope you and your husband have a lovely Valentine's Day!

  10. I have a tattoo that says "Love Bears All Things" :) Isn't our God awesome! I got it to remind myself that God loves me no matter what, so I should love other people no matter what. Good reminder.

  11. That verse is at the end of my hall. It became so real when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and my husband and I just stood there reading "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes in all things, endures all things." over and over. He then said "man, love is hard!" =)
Over a year tumor free and we're "enduring" other things....
    Only with Christ!
