  1. Last year was so much fun. We had a very dear family show up as a surprise on Christmas day and spent the afternoon/evening eating delicious food, playing games and thoroughly enjoying each other's company!

  4. My favorite memory hmmm, kind hard because I've had a couple great ones. So far I think it would have to be one of the Christmas' I spent on deployment. Drew Carey showed up for a USO comedy tour, and at our command picnic and we all played colley ball in Santa hats. When you're in the military you end up becoming your own unique family. Definitely a unique & memorable Christmas!

  13. One of my favorite memories was the year I was sick on Christmas. I stayed home from church while everyone else went. I curled up on the couch with a hot cup of cocoa and some Full House re-runs. It was a nice, quiet night for me :)

  14. I follow your blog :) I think my favorite holiday memory was 2 years ago when my family took communion by the light of our oil lamp on Christmas Eve. It was a wonderful time of worship reflecting on the coming of our savior and the gift of His sacrifice.

  35. My favorite holiday memory was as a small child we once spent Christmas with my grandfather at his house. He had a HUGE house in AZ and when I was there I always felt like I was in a castle.
On Christmas morning I woke up and ran out to the living room (beautiful HUGE room with floor to ceiling windows) and ran to see the tree. When I got out there it was clear that Santa had arrived because the train by the fireplace had been "knocked over" and the floor was COVERED in shiny bright new quarters.
Of course there were beautifully wrapped gifts and full stockings also but I just remember the quarters because I had NEVER seen this from Santa before.
It was such a magical morning. That was the only Christmas I had with my grandfather and he's passed on now.
    I will always remember it.

  36. I tweeted this also.
Would love to have those stockings for my fella and my first Christmas living together. :)

  37. The Christmas before I left for college (or maybe it was the first Christmas I was in college) my Aunt Cindy gave me a box full of ornaments. My parents, grandparents, and aunts had been buying saving ornaments for me for my entire life and waiting to give them to me. Some were from trips we'd taken as a family, some were just pretty, some were collectible. I still love taking them all out and looking at them, and I cannot wait until I finally have a tree of my own to hang them on.

  38. Last year we started putting three wishes for our family in our stockings.. We pack them up and read them the next year. I'm really excited to check them out this week :)

  61. My favorite Holiday memory is from when I was in Grade School. The night before Christmas our parents had some neighbors bring their sleigh down the street. So that when we heard Christmas bells and ran to look out the front door we saw fresh sleigh tracks in the snow. Add that to Christmas lights glistening in the night and it was perfect!

  62. My favorite Christmas memory would definitely have to be the first Christmas with our son, Maddox! He was 7 months old & I remember his eyes being WIDE open when he saw all his toys & doing the "I want to walk very soon" crawl with his fat little legs to get to the asap. So many sweet memories that first Christmas. :]

  65. Its really hard to pick one favorite holiday memory. I love the holidays. The first year that my husband and I were dating I had just moved in to my house and I couldn't afford a tree, which made me sad o he decided to get one for me and help me decorate and he even put lights on the house. No wonder I married him.

  68. My favorite thanksgiving memory was a while ago, but it was after we had placed my grandfather in an assisted living facilty because his Alzheimer's had gotten so bad. For thanksgiving, we were allowed to bring him home for the day. It was amazing what things he could remember while he was at home. It was our last thanksgiving together, but it was one that I always think about.

  69. As I get older, the realization that my grandparents and parents won't always be here hits very close to my heart. Last Christmas, I got up before the sun with my grandmother to learn how to cook Christmas dinner. I plan to do the same this Thanksgiving. That time alone in the kitchen in the early morning hours of Christmas day with my grandmother is something I will always cherish.

  94. the first memory that comes to mind is being a kid, waiting with my brothers and sisters at the top of the stairs because my parents werent up yet (rule was: the sun had to come up! ahh it took forever on christmas morning!) and we were not allowed to go downstairs >where the tree is >where the presents are until then. we would strain to try to see around corners and speculate on bits of wrapping paper and shadows and just amp out on the excitement!! i cherish those moments as memories now!!!
