favorites from our maternity photoshoot

I thought I'd share a few of my favorites from our maternity photoshoot that we had a few weeks ago with Rebecca from the Manzanita blog.

((spoiler alert:: Chase did not awkwardly hold my belly in any of them nor did I get half-naked  or raise up my shirt to expose my popped out snooze button of a belly button))

She also did our announcement photos back in the Fall and I just love how laid back our photoshoots are. We both had a vision for a super casual, almost journalistic type photoshoot of Chase and I in our natural environment. We decided to just hang out on the sofa and I really like how intimate and not too staged the photos look. However, you know I'm a "prop" girl, so of course we had some fun extras to add some personality.

((I'm not sure why, but I am in LOVE with this one. I love that you can see the basket underneath the table with random stuff piled in and "The Church Planters Wife" book on top, you can tell I'm grinning at Chase as he way too seriously reads a silly book that I can't wait to hear him read to Little One, our favorite candle is lit, and it just feels "normal." She captured this moment perfectly.))

When I felt like Chase had had enough, Rebecca and I went outside to just get some shots of me and the baby bump. I'm so thankful to have these even though I haven't *loved* the way I look pregnant. Again, I'm learning to accept my body and the miracle that it is that I can carry a HUMAN while God grows him into our precious son. Plus, the scenery ain't bad ;)

Just in case anyone is wondering, here are some details about what I'm wearing.
-Look 1: Lace tee and teal skirt are Forever 21 // The Necklace is C/O Outfit Additions // and the shoes are by Seychelles
-The onesie we are holding up is from The Wishing Elephant
-Look 2: My maxi dress is from Target // the sweater is from Anthropologie // boots are C/O Blowfish Shoes

Hey Hey, It's my Birthday! ((and YOU get to celebrate with me))

Today, I hit the big 2-6. It's downhill from here to my thirties, folks! If I wasn't 37 weeks pregnant, then there would be a silly photo of me jumping up in the air yelling, "new suits!" :)

Birthdays are so fun, aren't they? I love getting to look back at the previous year with a big ol' dumb smile on my face. I thought I'd celebrate with cupcakes and well...a giveaway...because what fun is partying alone? The winner of my birthday giveaway will win some of my favorite things: a $30 gift card to Anthropologie, a $15 gift card to Starbucks, a gorrrgeous statement necklace, some striped paper straws and some CANDY will be thrown in just for kicks. Meh-heh. Candy. You MUST be a follower via Bloglovin' or GFC in order to enter. Sorry to be so mean about it. It's my birthday so I get to make the rules, chumps. Sorry for calling you chumps. I got carried away.

((outfit schmoutfit)) casual & colorful

It's been a while, huh? The weather has been so weird lately and I am at a loss as to what to wear these days. I feel like I wore the same jeans+striped shirt+scarf combination over and over and it just felt the same even though they were different pieces.  It seems that when I'm in the mood to wear a big sweater and boots, it's sunny & 70 (not complaining) and when I'm in the mood to wear maxi skirts and chambray tops, it decides to snow 10 inches. Reeeeeal cool, Colorado. Way to keep me on my toes.

36 week bump! We're getting SO close, y'all :) Despite the gross cloudy weather that prefaced the snow storm, I decided to rock this neon spring sweater from RiffRaff paired with a cobalt statement necklace, maternity skinnies (shocker), and my favorite casual sneakers. I never thought that as a pregnant woman I would want to wear a neon sweater to draw more attention to my pregnant-ness, but alas, I was totally digging it. I certainly didn't shy away from color in this outfit.

And again, pregnant gals...I just want to emphasize that you don't have to buy overpriced, side-ruched maternity tops. Just don't be afraid to size up a size (or two) and make sure you have layering pieces to cover the bump.

Necklace: Francesca's
Bracelets: Adies Lovelies
Shoes: Urban Outfitters

-  OHSWEETJOY will get you 10% off at RiffRaff  -
-  SWEETJOY20 will get you 20% off your very own Timi & Leslie bag!!! Now's the time to upgrade to the most amazing diaper bag you ever did see. -

lemon-lime pom(mint)granate spritzer recipe

This time of year, I start craving my sangria recipe. Actually, who am I kidding? I crave it year 'round. Unfortunately, I've got a few more weeks until I can indulge in such beverages so I've had to get creative with some things that taste fancy, but are non-alcoholic. This drink was a random combination that I ended up LOVING and had to share with y'all. It's super refreshing, delicious and low calorie. You simply can't go wrong!

Mint Sparkling Water
POM Juice
Fresh squeezed juice from half a lime
Mint leaves
Lemon & Lime for Garnish

Fill cup with ice & add:
1-2 parts mint sparkling water (depending on how much you like the flavor, it definitely keeps it from getting too sweet)
3 parts lemon lime soda (sprite)
Squeeze of lime
2 parts POM

Give it a little stir, add a cute straw, and sip away! I added a lemon and a lime slice for garnish, but it would also be tasty & fancy-like for you to add some mint leaves for garnish. You could definitely try this drink with other flavors of sparkling mineral water. The mint just sounded so perfect. I seriously am a BIG fan of mint and come summer-time I try to add it to almost everything I drink...sweet tea, water, mojitos (wink), even soda.

Colette Style Contest!

First off, I'm shutting down the shop for ((at least)) all of April. If you want a Colette or Fayette headband, you better jump on it!

Second, it was so great to see all the ways y'all styled your Colette headbands. I'm going to post all the photos here, and on Facebook as well. The entry with the most likes on the Facebook page by next Monday wins a bundle of their choice of THREE headbands from the shop! Long story short - head on over to the Facebook page to vote for your favorite! Send your friends & followers to vote for you & good luck, ladies!

This girl is ALL about the Colette. Laura styled her Colettes for casual, colorful, dressier, St Patrick's Day looks, and even for work! I love how she tucked the "tails" in on the bottom right, for a knotted look.

Raechel did not shy away from color in this outfit and I am a BIG fan. Plus, it makes me crave some raspberry lemonade. :D

Lola let her accessories do the talkin' and I love the color-blocked look she has going on. The polka dots on top are just the perfect little detail, darn cute is she?!  Rock those pink pants, girl. Rock.Them.

Jessica rocked her Colette headband with lots of color in these two outfits. I'm especially digging the stripes + polka dots, but canNOT get over how fab those mint jeans are!

Just stop it with this cuteness, y'all. Jordyn created this look that makes me yearn for SPRING-TIME. Perfect...and I adore how she flops her bow off to the side for a more bohemian look. Also? Great styling minds think alike: exhibit A.

All I can say is - NAILED IT. Way to go on this eclectic look, Jennifer! Okay, i can say more. Duh. Those polka dotted keds are officially on my birthday list.

I can't think of more a perfect setting than working a cupcake truck. Chelsea styled her Colette headbands while cooking dinner, working a shift selling delicious cupcakes, and perfectly pairing it with a floral dress.

Coral + aqua is always a perfect combination, and Jenelle's outfits are no exception! I especially love the mix of prints and the across the forehead tie with the aqua dot Colette.

Green with envy with how GORGEOUS Nat is? Me too. She rocks the Colette like no one's business and her little lady looks pretty fab in it too :)

Lori tucked the tails in on her Colette to let the polka dots do the talkin' :)

With a perfect mix of patterns & textures, Tiffany styled her aqua dot Colette for a winning colorful combination!

Good LORD, I'm obsessed with this gal's style. If you don't read Signe's blog, you're missing out on some amazing fashion inspiration that doesn't cost a fortune. I love her down to earth, yet super glamorous looks.

Classic with a pop of fun. Digging Natalie's look, SO much!

Oh, you...Kacia and your perfect styling and gorgeous hair. Isn't she stunning?

Blair styles the orange soda Colette for an all-season look.

Stephanie tied up her mint bow and paired it with a polka dot top. I'm loving the result :)

If I somehow missed your submission, email it to OHSWEETJOYatGMAILdotCOM and I'll add it as soon as I can :)
