((outfit schmoutfit)) as close to pink as i'll get

I usually stay away from anything that resembles the color pink...it's just not my color. BUT, I bought this salmon chambray button down last week ((it was an overwhelming YES when I asked my instagram followers yes or no! haha)) with some Nordstrom Notes I had. I loved how soft it was and thought it was a fun change from my thrifted & fitted chambray top I usually wear. Once I got it home, however, I felt like it was too preppy for me...so I started to figure out how I could layer it to be more "me." After all, I love a good challenge ;)

I kept trying different cardigans on top and it worked, but dang...it's still too hot for that. Then I busted out one of my favorite go-to's - this crochet tank that I bought forever ago at Anthropologie. It definitely made the top feel more bohemian and playful, rather than preppy.

Oh, and then I hit a button on the camera that messed up the exposure. So..the photos got a bit brighter. Pretend that it was on purpose, okay? I'm no photographer or camera buff.

((also - I just noticed that my hand is on my hip in every single photo. Oops. The theme song for this post is obviously, "I put my hand upon my hip, when I dip you dip we dip"))

  1. I love the pink chambray, & I think it looks totally natural over that lace top. I'd never think for a minute that you struggled with this one or felt like maybe it was off. Well done!

Relatedly, I just bought an orange & white gingham button-up. I don't know if there's any way I can make THAT not preppy. Oops.

  5. oh my gosh. i cannot believe you reference that song... only because whenever the husband takes outfit photos of me and i put my hand on my hip, he sings that.

actually, to be quite honest, he sings that song a lot. i laughed out loud reading your reference to it!
